Going backward, then forward, then backwards and coming in at an odd angle seemed to free up the character to go forward again. The ending was weak. The game looked really cool and I really wanted to play it, but the game was completely unplayable from the first minute. Even on 700 dollar gaming pc(it can stream games like Overwatch and League of Legends at maximum graphics and high fps), this game with Nancy Drew level graphics ran at about 60 seconds per frame. Ultimately my computer crashed within just a couple of minutes and I had no choice but to get a refund. I'm really bummed out by the entire experience as I was really looking forward to this game and had waited a long time for it to go on sale. But hey, if it's not going to work for you you'll probably know almost immediately and be able to request a refund within the 2 hour window. Bonus points in that my request was processed quickly. So maybe try it and hope for better luck then me, but I cannot recommend this game.. It made me think about what I needed to do and it does have a twist to it. There could have been a better ending tho. The music was great and also the sounds around the house. If you like puzzles and The movie Saw you may like this one. Now on to the second game of this one! 7.5/10. Spent the money for this game and it doesn't work. It crashes when you try and change the graphic settings to help load the game faster. Total waste of money.. I recommend this game for those who enjoyed The Witness or Myst-style games. Puzzles are very well designed. The only negative side is that it is a bit too short (I beated it in 7 hours), but still worth playing. So far, have only gotten stuck leading to frustration once - I'll say this, once in a while, there's a simultaneous mix between very subtle hint/in your face solution, and that is where I became frustrated, as I turned off lateral thinking in favor of the assumption of a complex solution and quickly veered off into simulating possible solutions that were far more complicated than the eventual solution ended up being, in the particular situation I'm descring. Sometimes you really have to switch up your thinking. For me, it had to do with information on a whiteboard and the names of animals on doors, where I failed to make the proper connection for quite a while. Interesting to me how this process played out! Not finished yet, but really, really enjoying The Initiate so far and absolutely do not regret the purchase, that's for sure. Will update my review when finished, but for now I have no qualms about giving this title the thumbs up.. One of the better escape room games I've played. Really hit close to home with my love for them. If you like puzzle games and to think outside the box. I really recommend this game!
